People often think that keeping yourself hungry before a party is a good way to enjoy all the good food later. But this is a big mistake that would lead you to over-eating. Before any party or celebration, prepare yourself with a light, healthy snack, such as fresh fruit, small bowl of cereal, etc. When your stomach isn’t too empty, you will able to make better decision for healthy eating.

If you are hosting a party, you will have a better control of the food you bring to the table. However, it is not easy if you are invited to a party. Obviously you cannot bring your own food to someone’s party. But you can make wise choice! Most parties will have at least 1 kind of salad, so if you do not want to gain weight after the holiday, remember to have more greens on your dish.

The first and most important thing about Christmas or any other holiday is to celebrate with your loved ones. Therefore, you should spend more time talking and sharing with them, rather than focusing too much on eating. You should not feel like you have to avoid all the items. You can try all the delicious food, but remember to try each of them in small portions and eat slowly to savour every bite.

More importantly, do not forget to avoid drinking too much beverages that high in sugar and calories, such as coke. Alcohol also adds extra unwanted calories. If you consume too much alcohol, it can also lead to uncontrolled actions and over-eating. Try consuming healthier drinks like juices, water with a lime, skim milk, etc.
Last but not least, do not waste any food during this festive period. Besides keeping yourself healthy, remember that while we are having fun, there is plenty of people out there are facing starvation. Let’s make your holiday fun and meaningful for yourself and for the society.
